Dell Learning Lab South Africa 2020
(Waverley Girls’ High School)

At iNERDE, we believe access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education will create career and life-changing opportunities for students. Our mission is to inspire and empower African youth to learn the skills necessary to prosper in an evolving world and become a part of a sustainable and relevant workforce.

We are happy to announce that we are one step closer to our goal! We’ve partnered with Dell Technologies to create an all-new STEM After School Program for African youths.

Thanks to the generous support of the Dell Social Impact Program,  we launched our afterschool initiative at Waverley Girls’ High School’s solar-powered learning lab, where students have access to computers, the Internet, and a wealth of educational resources.

Our six-week curriculum is packed with 12 engaging, collaborative, and hands-on activities that dive deep into new STEM-related concepts. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store:

Each activity in our program is thoughtfully designed with three key components:

  1. Learning: Students are introduced to a new STEM topic through a presentation or reading.
  2. Demonstration: A teacher guides the class through a hands-on activity or exercise to reinforce the lesson.
  3. Practice: Students apply what they’ve learned through an independent or group activity.

This approach ensures that students not only grasp the content but also retain their newfound knowledge.

Virtual Mentoring for Future Innovators

But wait, there’s more! We’ve also included a virtual mentoring session once a week throughout the program. Each student will be paired with a Global Dell employee who will help them navigate basic STEM skills and share valuable advice, experiences, and expertise on various STEM subjects. This mentorship is a fantastic way for Dell employees to empower the next generation of African innovators.

If you’re a Dell employee looking for a volunteer opportunity to mentor a student in Africa, consider joining our virtual mentorship program here. This opportunity is exclusive to Dell employees for now.

We plan to expand our STEM After School Program to three additional solar learning labs across Africa in the future. If you are a company or organization interested in developing or sponsoring a program too, partner with us today.

It’s an incredible opportunity you won’t want to miss. Whether you’re decoding secret messages or building robots, our STEM After School Program is designed to ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and equip students with the skills they need to shape the future. So, what are you waiting for? Sign up today and be part of something amazing!
